Chesil Beach continuously moves towards the Fleet Lagoon at about 15 centimetres per year; the pebble on the beach will fall into the Fleet to occupy the ground level in the lagoon in the long-term future.
The aim of this project is to design a test bed to control the beach movement and movement celebration. Moreover, it will use different materials in comparison and form test beds in Chesil Beach to capture the sediment in order to grow vegetation, stabilising the beach. In order to resist the receding Fleet, a number of stabilisation strategies on Chesil Beach have been proposed.
Pine cabins offer shelter for fishers staying overnight.
Sit on Chesil Beach as part of the broader Jurassic Coast. Feel the wind and capture the sunset with a vast open ocean view.
After vegetation has grown, the site will become a vegetated ecological study space, welcoming parents and children to explore nature. The lagoon is open for small groups canoeing to explore the ecosystem.
Walking along the constructed platform at Chesil Beach, visitors will discover how the growing vegetation is grown as a net to catch the shifting shingle.
