Through seamlessly reconnecting Wan Chai with its lost waterfront, it encourages a healthier, walkable lifestyle prioritising the needs of people over vehicles, and creates a landmark icon for urban innovation.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Tong Lau configurations of the Wedding Card District, the design involves terraced platforms that provide varied recreational spaces and enhance social interaction.

Capturing the exotic nightlife of Wan Chai in a serene setting, this area will feature night-blooming flowers, moonlight reflecting tree species, and firefly-attracting grasses, transforming the area into a tranquil path for evening strolls.

The waterfront area is an open space consisting of a series of artificial islands designed for water purification and recreation, inspired by Hong Kong’s original geographical conditions and the fishing village architecture.

Embracing Wan Chai’s maritime past and unique cultural significance, the project will introduce water channels to mitigate urban heat island effects, and create a network of recreational open spaces to promote native biodiversity.
